For the last 2 years it was rather quiet at my website and it did not see to many updates and new images. However I was still busy shooting and also busy traveling to some really nice and distant places. Since I’ve produced lots of new images and since my focus shifted more and more from travel photography to lifestyle and business photography I felt that I needed a new place to share all images and adventures with you.
The old webpage was set up in 2009 and after over 4 years it was about time for a general overhaul. This time not only the layout but also the technical structure of the website was completely redesigned for a modern, minimalistic and clean look so nothing attracts the eye from the presented images. The main purpose of this redesign was to give visitors a quick and comprehensive overview of my style and work without having to click through many categories or galleries. Hence I’ve chosen to divide my portfolio in 3 different categories: lifestyle, business and travel. I feel that these 3 segments currently represent my work and my focus the best and give you a good idea about what to expect from my work.
On the other side I think that I’ve got enough projects and assignments that qualify for a special presentation with more than only 1 or 2 images from one shoot. Therefore I’ve added a project category. Within the projects you’ll find few galleries with a broad collection of images for one particular shooting or place.
What is a website of a photographer without a blog in 2013? Less work for the photographer. And one could argue that is not a bad thing especially for somebody like me who has a busy full time job that is not photography. Nevertheless I felt that a blog is a great way of sharing some thoughts and especially some images to be able to show you what I’ve been up to recently or to highlight some images that have not been included to the portfolio pages. The blog sphere to my belief has changed. Until a couple of years ago there was a lot of text and blog posts have been very comprehensive. Nowadays blog posts are way shorter, easier to read and focus strongly on images – at least for many photographers. You know, one image says more than 1000 words. I will stick to this approach of blogging since this is exactly what I think is the way to go. So please don’t expect many long blog posts (like this one) but blog posts with few (or only one) image with only a short description. Let’s see how I get this to work.
I’m a big fan of social media and sharing. Therefore a social media integration was a must have and we added sharing options to facebook, twitter, google+ and Pinterest. If you find an image or a blog entry worthy to share please do so by clicking on the social media icon of your choice. Any nice feedback is welcomed and highly appreciated.
Last but not least, when speaking of “we” I refer to the fine folks at RO.GRO India (www.ro-gro.com) that made a great job of designing this website and breathing life to my ideas for a new website. Thanks guys!! I’m still delighted about how smooth all of this went and in what a short period of time you managed to deliver all of this with all the special request I’ve had.
